Volatility and possible shortages of raw materials, energy and scrap pose a challenge to our industry. While steel casting demand will increase as these commodities will be needed and prices will rise, we as producers will need to secure sources if we are to produce the products needed. Steel foundries are a small part of the market and should be able to obtain their requirements but will need to be preferred customers to assure their access to these important supplies…

The steel casting market will grow significantly in the world and in North America. Global competition may limit the improvement in production in North America but this may be more than offset by the need to reinvest in infrastructure and capital equipment. Succeeding in this decade will require us to compete more broadly in the global economy with castings that are larger, more complex and delivered machined with confidence in their performance…
