Two hundred and
forty-three wax patterns are assembled on a 6"
diameter sprue to form the casting tree. ( Partial pattern assembly
shown to the right)
The tree is then
invested (coated) with ceramic by dipping the tree into a ceramic
slurry bath.
After wax removal,
the finished mold is placed in the casting chamber and the
chamber is back
filled with a 22 mesh mullite sand.
-
The sand in the chamber
supports the mold and reduces the number
of investments needed, saving production time.
-
The sand also
improves thermal uniformity and heat management in the mold
chamber.
