In Option
B, the upper gate is shifted down from the main cylinder to feed into
the center shaft. A
small boss is added to the center shaft as a connection point for the
gate.
This shifted gate will feed molten metal into the center shaft and reduce the
solidification shrinkage.
But it also leaves the
top of the main cylinder without direct metal feed and will probably cause solidification shrinkage
and misruns (poor metal feed) in the cylinder.
