Design
Issues -- Stress Reduction |
The
highest stresses in the pedal system components occur at the joining and attachment
points, where loads and moments are transferred into the different sections. |
- Generous fillets and radii designed into castings minimize the
stress concentrations found at joints between sections.
- One of the benefits of casting is the
design flexibility to reinforce section thickness at high stress areas or to remove
section thickness to save weight where stresses are low.
