Gravity Feed Permanent Mold

The gravity feed permanent
mold is not the best choice of molding method for the brake pedal
The permanent mold can provide the surface finish and dimensional
tolerances needed for the brake pedal.
The durability of the steel mold will insure that the surface finish
and dimensional tolerances are maintained across the multi-year production run.
Gravity feed of the metal requires risers to feed molten metal in to
the thick sections of the casting. Those risers will require cutting and grinding with the
greater variability in finished appearance.
Gravity feed does not provide rapid mold filling and makes it more
difficult to obtain smooth surface finish and casting soundness.
