- The photos above show the match plate patterns for making
the cope and the drag molds.
The final mold
design uses a horizontal parting line, two inches above the support plate. The flat panel
core sits in the drag mold and forms the primary parting line in the mold.
- Molten metal feeds down a side
sprue, and spreads through runners into the gates on one side of the casting. There is one
large riser positioned on in the cope mold, offset from the center point.
