Kris Bledowski is a senior economist with 20 years-plus experience in industrial and financial economics. He is currently Council Director and Senior Economist at Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, a policy research forum in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to joining MAPI, Kris worked at the International Monetary Fund, Commerzbank Central Europe, Pioneer Polish Trust Fund, and Cahners Economics. Mr. Bledowski, a native of Poland, holds degrees from universities in Poland, the U.S. and UK. The presentation will focus on drivers of growth for manufacturing industries in North America. It will include detailed forecasts for some two dozen sectors, including key durable goods categories of interest to steel producers. The speaker will also highlight global business cycle trends and expected growth scenarios in Europe and Asia.

Skip and Martha Guimond are safety and environmental consultants that have worked with foundries and steel mills for more than 40 years. They are experts in assisting plants in meeting OSHA safety and health as well as state and federal EPA regulations, developing engineering control programs, and developing training and compliance programs. They have served as expert witnesses for industry and have been instrumental in determining what engineering controls are feasible in the foundry industry for both OSHA and clients. Skip and Martha will discuss the resources under development for SFSA members to comply with the respirable silica regulation, latest news and trends in safety and environmental compliance and looking ahead to 2018.

Monday September 11, 2-4pm – Horseback Riding (Beginner Level) - $75 per person

Enjoy a horseback ride across gentle hills of the mountain pine forest, offering views of the High Sierra peaks. Enjoy the company of your knowledgeable guide who will first walk you through how to safely direct your horse and share with you the history of the land and terrain on which you ride. This is a slow beginner level ride. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing including long pants and closed toe shoes.
