How To Run A Lathe South Bend vintage 1914 user manual CD-ROM

August 5, 2026 //  Leave a Comment

If you are a beginning machinist then this is GOOD INFORMATION for you. It is certainly the “OLD SCHOOL” practice which has been taught to machinists for well over two centuries. It even has a page dedicated to “How to become a Machinist” offering advice to apprentice machinists. The South Bend Lathe Company published this book in 1914 as an instructional guide for apprentice machinists, it has been upgraded and reprinted many times, this edition is dated 1940 and covers most South Bend Lathes of that era that one might encounter. It covers all aspects of lathe operation, maintenance and application. Basic lathe design and lathe operation is similar throughout the industry from the diminutive Unimat hobby lathes to the huge lathes used in industry and shipyards. They all work in the same manner and accomplish similar tasks. This book also has lots of information of lathe theory, tool design and tool forms, as well as, special setups and operations. Well illustrated, 128 pages, all in PDF format, high resolution scans, you can view with any current PDF reader program or print on most ink jet or laser printers. (you will receive a CD-ROM, it does not “play” because it is NOT a DVD or a movie, this is an electronic copy of a book set in pdf files) SHIPPING first class US mail. International buyers welcome
