SOUTH BEND 9″-24″ Revised Early Vintage Metal Lathes Parts Manual 1906-39 1083
Manual Description: Number of Pages: 38 This manual is a Revised Edition and a compilation of a few different South Bend parts manuals, books, and bulletins that we have collected over 10 years. We put this manual together to simplify many of the changes South Bend made to their lathes during the early years of their production. This manual is to be the best comprehensive parts manual to cover 9″-24″ lathes manufactured between 1906 and the late 30’s. South Bend made a lot of changes during this time, and parts would overlap from different models. This manual is for the 9″, 11″,13″, 14″, 15″, 16″, 16/14″, and 24″ lathes, series include O, N, R, and T as well as the 9″ “Junior”, and “Workshop” lathes. South Bend did make some custom designs that had short runs that may not be covered in the manual or any manual that exist for that matter. This manual contains cross-sectional diagrams as well as pictorial views of the parts. It covers all the different parts of the lathe as well as the many different drive systems that were available. Here are just some of the lathes and configurations covered in this manual: Gear Box: Some of the lathes made for the time frame covered by this manual were made without gear boxes for threading, but some did have a gear box. Below is a picture of the gear box that was used in this time frame. Please Note: We have three different manuals that cover three different configurations and vintages of “Heavy” South Bend Lathes. Some of the manuals overlap on certain machines and parts, because South Bend didn’t change every machine and part at precise times, but I can help you match the appropriate manual with your machine. Below is an explanation of the three different manuals. If you have any questions about a manual, please let us know. Manual Title: SOUTH BEND 9″-24″ Revised Early Vintage Lathes Parts Manual 1906-39 Timeframe: 1906-1940’s Gear box has one lever on top and bottom, and covers lathes without gear boxes. SOUTH BEND How to Run a Metal Lathe Operator’s Manual 1906-1930s Item #0687
Manual Description: Number of Pages: 79 This is a reproduction, not a photocopy, of an original South Bend How to Run a Lathe 24th Edition. This manual covers South Bend lathes made in the early years circa 1906-1930s. This is the operators manual that South Bend made for their 9″-24″ lathes produced in that time frame. It covers everything shown in the contents section listed below and more. For your convenience, I have printed up three different version of this How to Run a Lathe manual to cover the large span of lathes that South Bend produced from 1906 to the late 1900s. The approximate date of the manuals I have are from 1906-1930s, 1930s-1950s, and 1950s-late 1900s. Some of the manuals overlap on certain machines and parts, because South Bend didn’t change every machine and part at precise times, but I can help you match the appropriate manual with your machine. I reproduced this manual, because of the many request from my customers that wanted a cleaner larger manual that is easier to view. This manual has been enlarged from 5.25″x7.5″ to 8.5″x11″ and is laser printed. It is comb bound so it lays flat on the work bench. Like all of my other manuals, I have digitally edited every page so it looks as good or better than the original. I am aware that there are original versions of this manual sold on eBay, but I am not trying to compete with those manuals. This manual was reproduced for my South Bend customers that have requested it. Contents: Gear Box: Most of the lathes made for the time frame covered by this manual were made without gear boxes for threading, but some did have a gear box. Below is a picture of the gear box that was used in this time frame.
