The manual also contains clear and easy to read explosive view diagrams of all the parts with parts descriptions. This would make it easier to take apart to work on, or order new parts for the Atlas 3985 and 3986 lathes. These models were manufactured in the 1970’s. We also have the Manual of Lathe Operations that would cover these model. I highly recommend this book, because it covers how to properly operate a metal lathe, includes the threading charts, and shows how to use all the attachments Atlas made for this lathe. By many request, this collection of manuals was reproduced for my Atlas Craftsman-Sears customers. August 5, 2026 //  Leave a Comment

Manual Description:Number of Pages: 34 This is a reproduction, not a photocopy, of an original Atlas and Craftsman Threading Supplement for 12″ Lathes from the Manual of Lathe Operations book. It covers all aspects of threading including different types of threading, and information on the drive trains and feed rates for cutting. Plus, this covers tool sharping and it explains gear formulas. It also goes into detail on how to sharpen threading tools and how to set up the lathe for threading. There is even information and an explanation of the threading dial. This is a MUST HAVE if you plan on doing any thread cutting. I have digitally cleaned and enlarged the pages of this manual to make it easier to read and to understand the diagrams! Reproduction (left) Original (right) Overview: I have collected this information for many years and have found the information they contain to be priceless in using and setting up the machines properly. I believe this manual will be a valuable resource of knowledge that will provide a lot of helpful information that is often hard to find. My manuals are not photocopies. I maintain a high standard of quality in my reproductions. Most of the manuals I reproduce look better than their originals. I have professionally digitally edited every page, and removed stains, wrinkles and handwriting. All of the manuals are printed on thick white paper to withstand shop wear and tear, which is better than a low resolution .pdf download.Visit our eBay Store! We have over 1,100 manuals available.
