• The bottom of the base plate with its bottom mating flange requires three machining steps -- the diameter of the mating flange, the overall face of the base plate, and O-ring slot.

• The base plate is a critical area where rapid cooling could occur and where machinability has to be insured.

• The cooling rate in the base plate can be controlled by using a large riser in the mold to provide additional heat. The location and size of the riser are shown on top of the plate, offset from the center hole.
