SFSA: Safety & HR Meeting

SFSA Safety/Human Resources Meetings August 20/21, 2008

All SFSA members are invited to attend these meetings. It is not necessary to be a member of the committee.

The meetings will be held in the Radisson Hotel N14 W24140 Tower Place Pewaukee, WI (I94 Exit: 294) and are scheduled as follows;

August 20 - 9:00 am

Safety Representatives meeting - Facilitator, Malcolm Blair SFSA

This will be a round table discussion. Topics will be selected from the following list;
Confined Space
Safety recognition
Standards for measurement of success
Keeping the safety program
PPE requirements in foundries
Policies on job safety incidents
Hex Cr
Silica
Fall Protection
Electrical safety
Hazardous communication
Hearing protection
Fire prevention
Power tool equipment safety
Compressed gases
Material handling equipment
Blood borne pathogens
Crane and hoist safety
Severe weather/Emergency evacuation
Respiratory protection

Human Resources meeting - Each company will contribute their latest experiences in the field of HR. The meeting will be chaired by Lisa Velez, Chairperson, SFSA Safety Committee.

Topics identified for discussion include;
Employee suggestion programs
Employee newsletters
Attendance programs and policies
Employee motivation and engagement
Congressional updates regarding HR issues
Workers Compensation updates regarding key issues
EEOC/Affirmative action legal updates

12:00 noon lunch on your own

Safety Committee meeting - all attendees from the Safety Representatives and Human Resources meetings are invited. The meeting will be chaired by Lisa Velez, Chairperson, SFSA Safety Committee

August 21 - 7:45 am

Assemble at Metaltek for Plant Tour - it is anticipated that the tour will finish by 11:00 am.
Most PPE will be provided by MetalTek except that you should have footwear appropriate for a foundry, open toed shoes, sandals, high heels, etc.. are not appropriate.
